Fall 2013: Arsenic and Old Lace!!

Heading off to Indiana for another round at the lovely Round Barn Theatre at Amish Acres!  This time I will play another Sweet and Devious Old Lady...the infamous Abby Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace. I have to admit I am enjoying this "branding" for playing  woman 30 yrs older than me...I will be able to do this for a LONG time!! Keep the "Old Lady" offers coming!
 

August 2013: "A Murder is Announced" at Acadia Repertory, ME

Another adventure but this time in Mount Desert Island, Maine playing Miss Marple in "A Murder Is Announced" through September 1, 2013.  I am working with a fabulous group of people at Acadia Repertory Theatre to sold out houses in this lovely Island Theatre in Somesville! July 2013...I Have Found My Calling!! Wicked Witch Of the West

Last Night we opened The Wizard Of Oz at Theatre West Virginia where I play the Wicked Witch Of The West! What a revelation!! This must be typecasting...it is too easy to step into these truly Wicked, Larger than Life shoes, or shall I say "Ruby Slippers!"  I must play this role many times for many years..I have finally Found my Calling!!

LIVING THE DREAM!! SPRING 2013

So much is happening....I feel like I am standing in a river of blessings! I am currently engulfed in the Maine Playwriting Festival (MPF...see "More Shows" for Video clips of Date Night) which opens this week at the St. Lawrence Arts Center in Portland, Maine.  The day after that closes, I fly to Pagosa Springs Arts Center in Colorado to move into tech for HIDDEN: Stories of The Dutch Resistance about the Holocaust. DRIVING MISS DAISY THROUGH INDIANA! Fall 2012

Discovery!!  I have a special gift for playing Old Jewish Ladies.....I must have been one in another lifetime?!  This production of "Driving Miss Daisy" at the Round Barn Theatre has been magical!!  I truly hope I will be given another chance very soon to dig into this rich play for a longer period.  From here I head into the role of Cindy, the Acting teacher in the feature film "A METHOD" (yes...The Method!) in Minneapolis.  I certainly feel blessed to be able to dig into my Art either as an...

Bio


Dr. Pamela D. Chabora currently serves as a performer and master teacher with a focus in performance training at Theatre West Virginia and Mountain State University, teaching acting, voice, movement, musical theatre, stage combat and the business of acting. She also serves as coordinator for the Professional Training Program for Interns at Theatre West Virginia. In her twenty–eight years as a specialist in actor training, she has worked at the University of New Hampshire, Susquehanna University, University of Toledo, University of Maine at Fort Kent, and North Dakota State University. In 2004, Chabora was selected as NDSTA’s North Dakota Creative Artist of the Year. She has received eight separate ACTF Meritorious awards from the American College Theatre Festival for Directorial Concept and Ensemble work and was nominated for the Moss Hart award for Children’s Theatre. In addition, Chabora has maintained a parallel career in professional theatre as an actress, singer, and director and choreographer. Her theatrical credits range from Juliet in Star-Crossed Lovers in NYC to Miss Julie from Strindberg’s Miss Julie. In recent years, she portrayed Amanda in The Glass Menagerie at the Tin Roof Theatre, in N.D. and she has served as a company member at Stephen Foster, the musical in KY, portraying Eulalie Shinn in The Music Man, Miss Lynch in Grease, Mrs. Mattie McDowell and Eliza Foster in The Stephen Foster Story. Chabora is currently in her third season with Theatre West Virginia, playing the roles of Sarah McCoy in Hatfields and McCoys, Delia Morgan in Honey On The Rock, Mrs. Mayor in Seussical, and the Evil Stepmother in Cinderella. Chabora also recently worked and trained with Cirque Du Soleil as a Human Personage (Cirque Clown) in Las Vegas. Chabora maintains a high profile in national and international theatre organizations. In addition to serving as chief officer for the Acting Program of the Association of Theatre in Higher Education and Mid-west Representative for the Association of Theatre Movement Educators, Chabora has served for five years as editor for THE BEAT, a publication of the Acting Program addressing cutting edge training techniques for actors. As a certified trainer and practitioner of both the Lessac Voice/Movement System and of the Alba Emoting technique, Chabora continues to research the application of neuropsychology to self–use training for actors. Her article “Emotion Training and the Mind/body Connection: Alba Emoting and the Method” can be found in The Method Reconsidered. Chabora was invited to New York to study as a Master Teacher of Acting at the Actor’s Center with Olympia Dukakis, Slava Doglachev from the Moscow Art Theatre, and Rob Clare from the Royal Shakespeare Company. Chabora’s most recent performance venture has been her portrayal of Emily Dickinson in the one woman show, The Belle Of Amherst which has toured nationally for the past six Years, and will now tour with Theatre West Virginia.
